When you buy this Meters Music OV-1-B Bluetooth Headset, you are not buying any wireless HiFi Bluetooth headset, but a Bluetooth headset that sounds truly extremely good. This was shown by my own test of this extremely well fitting headset. I don't know of any Bluetooth headphones in this price range that have such excellent sound characteristics. Behind Meters Music stands Ashdown Engineering with an almost legendary history - a company that develops bass guitar amplifiers and whose customers include the Who's Who of the music scene.

Meters Music relies on the AptX-HD standard for signal transmission for these Bluetooth headphones, which can keep up with the level of the wired version in terms of sound quality. Of course it is also possible to use the supplied cable without Bluetooth and of course you can also connect it to your mobile phone for making phone calls.

One could describe the Meters OV-1 B as a circumaural, foldable Bluetooth headset with active noise suppression, cable microphone and display instruments. That would be correct, but it's not true. Because the OV-1 B is an alternative design to the full plastic headphones of large corporations with well-known names - and all too often disappointing sound quality. It allows you to experience music on the go in the way that professional musicians prefer. And look stylish at the same time. The analogue VU meters on the outside of the drivers are not just a gimmick, they are fully functional. They can also be found in this form in the famous bass guitar amplifiers from Ashdown Engineering, the parent company of Meters Music. When the pointer moves into the red range, you reach a level that can lead to permanent hearing damage.

The headband of the OV-1 B Bluetooth headphones and the ear cushions are made of skin-friendly imitation leather, which is less sensitive to perspiration and sunlight. The holder of the ear cups is made of full metal and is correspondingly stable. By using metal inside the headband, the contact pressure of the ear cushions can be reduced by simply bending them open. The connecting cable is firmly seated in the socket so that it is not pulled out by its own weight. The OV-1 B has a built-in rechargeable battery that lasts about 10 hours in Bluetooth mode with active noise suppression. Whoever hears via the enclosed headphone cable and uses the noise suppression will get about 18 hours of continuous operation. With average use, the battery has an expected life expectancy of 10 years. Once the battery has emptied completely, you can of course continue to use the headphones - but without suppressing the noise or illuminating the VU meter. Charging takes place via a USB cable; a small LED indicates when charging is complete.

The operating modes can be selected using the slide switches on the ear cups of the OV-1 B. The OV-1 B is equipped with a USB cable and a small light-emitting diode. You can choose between Bluetooth with and without noise cancellation and wired sound with and without noise cancellation. The Active Noise Cancelling is very efficient with 82% suppression. The OV-1 B comes with a USB charging cable, a connection cable with integrated microphone for use with Android mobile phones including an adapter for large jack connections and a transport bag with zipper. Here's a little tip for first-time use for those who don't have a look at the manual: To connect to the smartphone, press the PLAY button on the headphones until the LED on the handset alternately flashes blue and red. Then select the OV-1 B meter from the smartphone's Bluetooth menu. If this works, the LED on the headset flashes constantly blue. A phone call is answered by double tapping the PLAY button.

The Bluetooth headset OV-1-B is a lifestyle product, which makes many headphones of so-called cult brands look a little bit ridiculous.
