Jacques Loussier Trio - The Best of Play Bach
Jacques Loussier developed his jazz concept for ‘Play Bach’ during his time at the conservatory. Time and again, he also devoted himself to other classical composers - and he always returned. Loussier began his first recordings in 1959, founded the Play Bach Trio with Pierre Michelot and Christian Garros and produced four albums with them for the Decca label, which alone sold over six million copies. To mark his 70th birthday in 2004, Telarc released the SACD ‘The Best of Play Bach’ with Michael Bishop as sound engineer. This same Michael Bishop is now responsible for the UHD version of FIM and is naturally keen to surpass his own product once again.
The recording includes well-known pieces from the Bach repertoire, but ‘Air on a G String’ in particular has achieved some fame because it was used as advertising music for Hamlet cigars in England for more than 35 years.
