The air-helix construction of the Reference Digital-2404 is absolutely unique. To get as close as possible to perfect air insulation we have developed a special clip. Inside the cable, a large number of these clips form the supporting structure which holds the signal conductors helically free in the air and guides them through the shielding at a defined distance. The flexibility of this construction is achieved by two webs, which hold the clips together and keep them at the same distance. With coaxial cables, the shielding is usually used as the ground conductor at the same time. The reference Digital 2404, on the other hand, is double-balanced and has two positive and two negative conductors. This means that the shielding is completely separate and the signal remains free of interference. Although it may seem paradoxical, the innovative air insulation makes High Fidelity with this cable a simply breathtaking sound experience.

Air Helix structure
Air is still the best insulator for cables. It allows low capacities and low losses. With the Air Helix construction in the Reference Digital 2404, we are closer to pure air insulation than ever before. Just as important as the insulation is a homogeneous structure. This means that the conductors and the shielding must maintain exactly defined distances from each other. To meet these requirements, we have developed a special clip. Lined up inside the cable, several such clips form the supporting structure. With great care, the Super-Speed waveguides are threaded by hand in our in-house manufacture and the clips are mounted. The resulting air-helix is then given its shielding and PE network jacket by hand. Finally, the rhodium-coated plugs are mounted and the function of the cable is tested.

The ladder itself of course also plays a major role. In the Digital 2404 they consist of 32 high-purity copper wires braided onto a PE core. This extremely reduces the longitudinal inductance. A wafer-thin layer of varnish on the wires prevents eddy currents between the wires. A conductor that can transmit even extremely dynamic signal sequences very quickly and precisely

Physical phenomena that occur during the transmission of signals can only be controlled with technical finesse and the best materials.
